Senate Overturns Regulations

Canberra 25 September 2014:



The Senate overturned Government decision to repeal certain family visas. It means a huge relief for less affluent parents of Australian residents and citizens who couldn't afford contributory parent visas.



In additions, some relatives of Aussie residents will be pleased to hear that Aged dependent relative, Carer and Remaining relative visas are available again.

List of visa subclasses available again from 25 September 2014:

103 Parent

804 Aged Parent

114 / 838 Aged Dependent Relative

115 / 835 Remaining Relative

116 / 836 Carer

Migration Agents Code of Conduct

The Code of Conduct for registered migration agents is set out in legislation to regulate the conduct of registered migration agents. 

The Code of Conduct:

(a) protects clients of migration agents; and

(b) strengthens the integrity of the immigration advice industry and Australia’s immigration system.


Provision for a Code of Conduct for migration agents is set out in Section 314 of the Migration Act 1958.
